Michael McGowan aka The Satchel Kid was born in the great state of Alabama during the summer of 69. His father was a sailor in the US Navy, thus they moved around alot. He absorbed his parents classic country & poprock record collection all over in the Southern & Southwestern United States during the 70’s & 80’s.
He’s since imigrated to the Swedish countryside with his own family where he wrote the 13 songs on his debut solo album ”It’ Feel Better” coming out 14 August 2020 on the Swedish Indie label KITE Recordings!
Taking inspiration from his love of Jeff Tweedy, Tom T. Hall, Damien Jurado, Phosphorescent, Belle & Sebastian and Bob Dylan (of course) he recorded his debut album produced by Carl Edlom. Carl also works with the renowned Swedish artist I’m Kingfisher.
Michael (The Satchel Kid) also founded the critically acclaimed indie pop-rock band Purslane. Songs from Purslane’s self titled album released in 2018 have enjoyed radio play in Brazil and Sweden. The album garnered glowing reviews in the Swedish press.
